Sullivan, Sargent Sweep CC Weekly Awards

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team swept the Centennial Conference weekly awards with Katie Sullivan being named the conference's track athlete of the week while Claire Sargent was named the field athlete of the week.

Sargent won the weekly honor for the third time this indoor season and has now received that accolade a total of four times during her career. Sullivan won the award for the first time this season, but won that same indoor honor in February of 2017 and was named the Centennial Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week once during her career.

Sullivan was a double winner for the Fords at the Collegeville Classic as she took home first place in both the 800 meters (2:25.88) and mile (5:19.09). In the 800 meters, her closest competitors were her own teammates. She won the mile by nearly two full seconds over her closest competitor from Muhlenberg. Winning those same events on the same day for the first time in her career, those individual titles marked the sixth indoor mile title and third 800 meter indoor title of Sullivan's career. She did complete the 800m/1500m double at Muhlenberg during the outdoor season in 2015.

Sullivan is the reigning Centennial Conference Champion in the indoor mile and won the 800 meter indoor title during the 2016 season. She is a four-time Centennial Conference Champion between the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.

Claire Sargent placed second in the shot put with her best throw in the shot put being marked at 11.92 meters. Sargent had won the shot put in the previous two times this season where she was named the Centennial Conference Field Athlete of the Week. With her most recent mark, the school record holder has now placed first or second in three of the four meets she has entered during the 2017-18 indoor season.

The 2016 Centennial Conference indoor shot put champion and 2017 outdoor champion has combined for five All-Centennial Conference accolades in her specialty event with her senior championship season yet to come. She has finished first or second at the conference's indoor meet during each of her first three years.

Those performances from Sullivan and Sargent helped the Fords capture the team title at the Collegeville Classic as Haverford combined for a total of 77 points on Saturday. Haverford will be back at home this Saturday as the team hots the McElligott Invitational inside the Alumni Field House beginning at 11:30 a.m. Sargent is also scheduled to compete at Widener's Field Meet on Friday, January 26 during this upcoming week.
