LANCASTER, Pa. - The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team competed on the final day of the Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday at Franklin & Marshall. In a day full of finals, the Fords scored a handful of points to finish sixth in the overall team standings.

After finishing third in the 5,000 meters on Saturday, Katie Hirsche returned to the track to run the 3,000 meters. The sophomore finished just off the podium but was able to collect five points for the team after crossing the finish line in 10:36.42 for fourth place. The performance was Hirsche's second fastest time indoors, with her personal record of 10:23.83 coming on February 10.

Sarah Wilcher followed up her fourth-place finish in the weight throw with another fourth-place finish in the shot put. The first-year threw a personal best on her very first throw and that is all she needed to score five key points for the team. Her throw of 11.45 meters (37 feet, 6.75 inches) demolished her previous best of 11.19 meters (36 feet, 8.5 inches) she set back in late January. Wilcher finished the championships collecting a total of ten points for Haverford.

The finals of the 60-meter dash were sure to put on another show after five athletes broke the eight-second barrier in prelims on day one. In almost a direct copy of the preliminary rounds, most of the athletes placed right where they were seeded for the final. Victoria Kadiri of Johns Hopkins took the crown by running 7.80, beating her teammate Lauren Phillips. Haverford athletes Jahsaiah Moses and Olivia D'Aulerio finished in sixth and seventh respectively. D'Aulerio ran 8.18 while her teammate Moses narrowly edged her, crossing the line in 8.12. In total, those finishes were enough to score five points for the Fords.

Isabel Thornberry scored a point for the Fords in the 400-meter dash, placing eighth with a time of 1:01.87. Her time was just 0.07 slower than her season best. Unfortunately, first-year sprinter D'Auelrio was disqualified from the event due to a false start but she would still have an opportunity to score points in the 200-meter dash and the 4x400 relay.

D'Aulerio returned to the track ready to throw down a good time in the 200-meter dash and she didn't disappoint. Unafraid of the moment, D'Aulerio ran a personal best to finish fourth and just off the podium. Her time of 26.30 scored five points and further lengthened the distance between her and fourth place on Haverford's all-time list. D'Aulerio's previous best of 26.38 came just a week ago at the Keogh Invitational on February 18.

The championships ended with the 4x400 meter relay as Haverford collected another fourth-place finish, their fourth on the day. The relay started with Moses on the lead-off leg, bringing the baton around in the fourth position. After a clean handoff to Thornberry, the junior looked to move up, and she did. Coming down the final stretch of her leg, Thornberry blazed to third place handing off the baton to Rachel November. November used veteran racing tactics to push her way to second place after 200 meters. However, that energy would slightly fade and she found herself neck and neck for the third place position heading in the anchor leg.

D'Aulerio, desperate for a podium finish, held third for most of the anchor leg but narrowly missed out as she was passed in the final 100 meters. The team finished with a time of 4:07.07 for a season-best and scored another five points for Haverford.

For the meet, the Fords totaled 46 points to finish sixth in the team standings, 8.5 points out of the fifth position. For some athletes on the NCAA qualifying bubble, they will have an opportunity to better their times to climb the Division III performance list in a last-chance meet in Medford, Massachusetts. The Tufts National Qualifying Meet is scheduled for Saturday, March 4.

The rest of the Fords will look ahead to the outdoor season that is set to begin in a month. The Fords will open the outdoor season on March 31 at the Danny Curran Invitational in Chester, Pa. That meet is currently scheduled for 5 p.m.
