Pole Vault and Relays Highlight Day One of CC Championships For Women's Track & Field

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Haverford College Women's Indoor Track & Field team currently sit in eighth place with 10.5 points at the Centennial Conference Championships, after an impressive day highlighted by scoring performances in the pole vault and relays inside Schnader Field House on the campus of Franklin & Marshall.

Alice Creed helped the Fords get on the scoreboard in the pole vault, clearing 2.71 meters to claim a share of eighth place. The distance cleared by Creed earned half-a-point in the standings for the Scarlet and Black.

Starting off the day on the track, was Nadine Tang, who competed in the 60 meter prelims. Racing to a 13th place finish, Tang secured a new personal best time of 8.32.

Another personal record was captured in the 5000 meters, as Julianna Watson crossed the finish line in 20:10.32 to end the race in 25th place.

Over at the jumping pit, first-year athlete Grace Hannigan lept 10.17 meters (33 feet, 4.5 inches) to slot into 11th place in the triple jump. The leap is a new personal best for Hannigan, who beat her previous distance of 9.94 meters set last weekend at the 2024 Keogh Invitational.

Haverford had good fortunes in the 4X800 meter relay, as the team of Dominique Monroy, Anastasia Jaycobs, Savannah Shaw, and Isabel Thornberry darted to a time of 9:59.37 to grab fourth place and a big five points for the team leaderboard. In the Women's 4x200 meter relay, the team of Tang, Anna Berry, Shahla Mukhtar, and Alice Sappenfield  placed ninth, with a time of 1:52.65.

Finding the same form as they did in the 4X800 meter relay, the team of Monroy, Olivia D'Aulerio, Thornberry, and Shaw bolted to another fourth place finish in the DMR, to add another five points to the Scarlet and Black score for the day. 

Following day one at the Centennial Conference Championships, the Fords will return to Schnader Field House on the campus of Franklin & Marshall for day two of the Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday, February 25, at 11 a.m.
