Lamar '08 to compete at the 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College alumna Annick Lamar '08 will compete at the 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships after posting an automatic qualifying time in the 1,500 meter run at the 2011 New Balance Boston Twilight Meet #4 Saturday, June 11 at Bentley University in Waltham, Mass.

A member of the New York Athletic Club, Lamar ran a personal record time of 4 minutes 14.36 seconds, surpassing the 4:15.50 automatic qualifying standard. This is the second year in a row that Lamar will compete at the outdoor championships. A year ago, Lamar competed in the 800 meter run. In February, she took eighth-place in the mile run at the 2011 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held Thursday, June 23 through Sunday, June 26 at Heyward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore. The women's 1,500 semifinals will go off on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. (PST) with the 12-woman final being run Saturday, June 25 at 2:33 p.m. (PST) on NBC.

At Haverford, Lamar was a four-time NCAA Division III All-American. She is a two-time all-American in the outdoor 800 with finishes of eighth (2007) and third (2008) at the outdoor track & field championship. In 2007 she earned all-America status with a 26th-place finish at the D-III cross country championship. During the 2008 indoor season Lamar placed fourth in the mile at the NCAA championship and was named an all-American.

Lamar holds the school record for the indoor mile (4:57.84), the outdoor 1,500 (4:34.70) and in both the indoor (2:15.72) and outdoor (2:08.15) 800. She is the Centennial Conference record holder in the outdoor 800.
