Plenty of Personal Records for Women’s Track & Field, Highlight Day Two of Paul Donahue Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track & field team competed in their second day of the Paul Donahue Invitational Saturday, achieving numerous personal records at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium on the campus of Widener University.

In the 100 meters, Nadine Tang placed 53rd, with a time of 13.53. Her teammate, Adrianna Cruz-Soto scurried to a time of 13.76, a new personal best, to finish 67th.

Tang also competed in the 200 meters, where the first-year achieved a new personal best time of 27.84, to finish 66th. Ryan also notched a new personal best in the event, sprinting to a time of 28.95, to claim 88th.

Olivia D'Aulerio secured a sixth place finish in the 400 meters, dashing to a new personal best time of 57.58. The blazing time is now the second best pace in school history for the outdoor 400 meters. Brianna Feifer also picked up a new personal best in the event, hustling to a time of 1:07.32, to snag 53rd.

Abby Ryan crossed the finish line in 16th, with a time of 18.48, in her event debut for the 100 meter hurdles, before Rachel November finished 24th in the 400 meter hurdles, with a time of 1:15.34.

The Fords were represented by seven runners in the 800 meter run and was led by Isabel Thornberry, who finished the run in 16th place, with a time of 2:19.48, a new season best. Following Thornberry was Anastasia Jaycobs, who also claimed a new personal best, finishing 34th with a time of 2:23.53. 

Just narrowly picking up a new personal best in the run was Alice Sappenfield, who placed 48th, with a time of 2:28.65. Other notable finishes in the 800 meters came from Carly Priest (51st, 2:29.52), Jessie Hausman (55th, 2:30.69, new personal best), Sophia Furman (67th, 2:37.25, new personal best), and Poppy Chrisman (69th, 2:37.78, new personal best).

Savannah Shaw paced the Haverford trio in the 1500 meters, capturing 32nd with a time of 4:59.71. Her teammate Grace Chen finished 39th with a new personal best time of 5:08.34 while Claire Parson ended the race in 66th, with a time of 6:11.77.

The Fords finished ninth in the 4x100 meter relay, as the team of Tang, D'Aulerio, Ryan, and Thornberry, raced to a time of 50.82.

Over in the sand pit, Cruz-Soto finished 18th in the long jump, leaping to a distance of 4.87 meters (15 feet, 11.75 inches), in her event debut. Ella Fleming also competed in the long jump, as the junior leapt 4.53 meters (14 feet, 10.5 inches), to come away with 33rd place.

Alice Creed was the lone Scarlet and Black competitor in the pole vault, as the senior soared to a distance of 2.70 meters (8 feet, 10.25 inches) to take home 16th place.

Women's track & field faces a quick turnaround, as the Fords host the Haverford Tri-Meet on Monday, April 22,  on the Johnson Track at Walton Field. The first events of the tri-meet will start at 3:30 p.m.
