Neilson has pair of top-10 performances as women’s track opens outdoor season

PHILADELPHIA – Christina Neilson finished fourth in the 400 meter run and seventh in the 200 as the Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team opened the spring season at the Big 5 Invitational.

Running amongst Division I competition, Neilson clocked in at 59.24 seconds in the 400 and 26.24 in the 200. Neilson's time in the 200 was just off her school record of 25.64.

The Fords had a strong showing in the 5,000 where five runners finished in the top-11. Sally Weather led the pack, coming in fifth at 18 minutes, 34.26 seconds. Emily Scott took seventh (18:53.84) and Sheera Rosenbaum claimed eighth (19:00.87). Sara Hess (19:02.68) and Rachel Potter (19:14.30) finished 11th and 12th, respectively.

Kylie Lipinski had Haverford's highest finish in the field events, taking fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.36 meters (34 feet, 0 inches). The Fords took the nine through 12 spots in the long jump. Zoe Welch took ninth, reaching 4.82 (15-9.75).

The Fords are back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University.
