Fords kick off outdoor track & field season with solid performances

CHESTER, Pa. - The Haveford College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams kicked off the spring schedule with solid performances over the weekend at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University and at the Sam Howell Memorial Invite hosted by Princeton University.

At Widener the Fords women were led by Andrea Tocci's win in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Christina Neilson raced to a third-place finish in the 100 meter dash and to fourth-place in the 200.

Kaitlyn Shank ran to the runner-up spot in the 10,000 and was followed closely behind by Flora Berklein in third place.

The 4x100 relay quartet of Kimberly Carlomagno, Neilson, Zoe Welch and Hannah Davis finished second in a time of 50.17 seconds.

Haley Lowrence continued her solid freshman season taking fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discuss.

The men's weekend was highlighted by Friday night results at Princeton.

Anders Hulleberg finished fourth overall and was the fastest Division III runner in the 10,000 racing to an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 30 minutes, 17.26 seconds.

Earlier in the evening, teammate Tim Schoch captured the 1,500 title with a winning time of 3:49.35.

At Widener for the men, Pat Haneman won the 10,000 for the Fords and Richard Dowlat won the 400.

Jake Koffer and Daniel Stackman finished in second and third-places for Haverford in the 3,000 steeplechase, and the 4x400 relay foursome that included Gebby Keny, Alec Koffer, Willie Xiang and Dowlat finished second.

Ben Cutilli also picked up a second-place finish for the Fords taking the runner-up position in the 5,000.

The Haverford women next compete at Friday's West Chester Invitational followed by the New Jersey Invitational, hosted by The College of New Jersey, on Saturday. The men continue their season with the TCNJ meet.
