Lamar '08 named to USA Pan Am Games roster

INDIANAPOLIS – Haverford College graduate Annick Lamar '08 has been chosen to represent the United States at the 2011 Pan American Games which run from Oct. 24-29 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The Pan Am Games track & field teams were recently released by USA Track & Field.

Lamar and Jackie Areson will represent the U.S. team in the 1,500 meter run in Mexico.

"I am honored to represent the United States," said Lamar. "This will be my first international championship and I am eager to learn from the experience and race well. I'm excited to live in the athletes village and befriend my international counterparts while simultaneously racing my hardest to put the United States on the podium."

Lamar participated in the 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in June where she finished 16th in the 1,500 with a time of 4 minutes, 15.44 seconds. Lamar had posted an automatic qualifying time into the national meet by running a personal best of 4:14.36 at the 2011 New Balance Boston Twilight Meet #4 in early June.

At Haverford, Lamar was a four-time NCAA Division III All-American. She is a two-time all-American in the outdoor 800 with finishes of eighth (2007) and third (2008) at the outdoor track & field championship. In 2007 she earned all-America status with a 26th-place finish at the D-III cross country championship. During the 2008 indoor season Lamar placed fourth in the mile at the NCAA championship and was named an all-American.

Lamar holds the school record for the indoor mile (4:57.84), the outdoor 1,500 (4:34.70) and in both the indoor (2:15.72) and outdoor (2:08.15) 800. She is the Centennial Conference record holder in the outdoor 800.
