Chernow and Thorsheim pace Fords at Muhlenberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -  Robin Chernow and Chelsea Thorsheim led a strong effort by the Haverford College women's track team at the Muhlenberg Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Chernow's career-best throw of 11.12 meters earned first place in the shot put and currently sits third on the Centennial Conference performance list. Finishing fourth was Dominique Meeks who also placed eighth in the discus throw.

Registering the other first-place finish for the Fords was Thorsheim who with a time of 11 minutes, 42.66 seconds led a trio of Fords that grabbed three of the top four spots in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Alyssa Mayo and Helen Farley finished third and fourth, respectively.

Rachael Potter had a strong showing in the 5,000 as she came in third in 18:54.27, while Alice Vienneau later followed in sixth.

Placing sixth in 5:10.91, freshman Charlotte Lellman ran well in the 1,500 while sophomore Nicole Inman also earned a sixth place in the 400 meter dash.

Inman also contributed to a third-place finish by the 4x400 relay team. Other members of the team included Kylie Lipinski, Hannah Davis, and Jennifer Whealdon.

Earlier in the day, Lipinski came in second in the triple jump and earned sixth in the long jump. Carolyn Oehrig added a 10th in the long jump and ninth in the high jump.

Other members of the squad spent Saturday competing at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational. Freshman Phoebe Miller claimed fifth in the 1,500 with a time of 4:47.89 while Sara Hess finished 10th. Also running well was Kathryn Balmer who placed eighth in the 800.

Next up for Haverford is the New Jersey Invitational on April 14th at The College of New Jersey.
