Lipinski, Balmer, and Lowrance lead strong showing at Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track team received an array of strong performances on Friday and Saturday from up and down its roster at the Widener University Invitational.

Kylie Lipinski moved to the top of the Centennial Conference performance list with a season-best leap of 5.11 meters (16 feet, 9.25 inches) in the long jump that was good for seventh-place. Emma Kornetsky, also registering a season-best effort in eighth-place, moved to third on the conference performance list with a jump of 4.94m (16-2.5). Finally, Carolyn Oehrig completed the trifecta of season-best efforts with a 10th-place leap of 4.81m (15-9.5) which currently ranks sixth in the conference. Kornetsky also finished fourth in the triple jump while Oehrig placed eighth.

Haley Lowrance's season-best throw of 36.84m (120-10) earned her fifth-place in the discus and currently sits as the third-best mark in the conference this season.

Extending the theme of season-best efforts, Anna Schall registered a throw of 31.79m (104-3) in the javelin competition that ranks seventh on the conference performance list.

Freshman Kathryn Balmer continued her impressive outdoor season with an outdoor collegiate-best time of 2 minutes, 16.60 seconds in the 800 meter run. This currently stands as the third-best time in the conference.

Chelsea Thorsheim and Rachael Potter also put forth another strong effort on the track on Saturday in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Thorsheim took third in 11:51.87 while Potter followed in fourth (12:16.22).

The Fords ran especially well in the 5,000 as the trio of Flora Berklein, Alice Vienneau, and Sharon Warner finished fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.

Hope Rainey earned another fourth-place finish for Haverford in the 1,500 meter run.

Finally, the Fords' relay teams also moved up the conference performance list as the 4x100 squad's time of 51.43 seconds sits in fourth while the 4x400 team's runner-up time of 4:03.30 is currently the second-fastest time in the Centennial.

Next up on the schedule is the Haverford Tri-Meet. The Fords' lone home meet of the outdoor season begins at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
