Thorsheim leads strong effort by Fords at Lions Invitational

EWING, N.J. - The Haverford College women's track team, in its final tune-up before next weekend's conference championship, had a successful outing at the Lions Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey on Saturday.

Sophomore Chelsea Thorsheim paced the Fords with a second-place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Thorsheim's time of 11 minutes, 25.24 seconds currently sits in the top spot on the Centennial Conference performance list. The first Division-III runner to finish, Thorsheim led a trio of Haverford runners that placed in the top-eight overall. Andrea Tocci's season-best time of 11:54.40 was good for fifth and Nora Howe's career-best effort of 12:29.64 earned eighth. Tocci's time is the fifth-best time in the conference this season while Howe's time ranks twelfth.

The Fords also ran well in the 400 meter dash as Hannah Davis placed seventh with a career-best time of 1:00.97 which currently is the sixth-best time in the Centennial this season. Nicole Inman followed in 10th and also added a career-best effort in the 200m dash.

Emily Scott and Kara McMahon grabbed two more top-10 finishes for Haverford in the 1,500. Scott's career-best time of 4:49.70 was good for sixth while McMahon placed ninth with a season-best showing of 4:52.77.

Running the 5,000 meter run for the first time this season, Liv Uddin finished 15th.

The Fords head to Ursinus College next weekend for the Centennial Conference championship meet beginning on Friday, May 4.
