Haverford duo score points in 10,000 on Day 1 of Centennial championship

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track team began the three-day Centennial Conference track and field championship meet at Ursinus College by registering points in the 10,000 meter run.

Flora Berklein and Alice Vienneau registered the initial points of the meet for the Fords in the 10,000 meter run. Berklein finished seventh in 40 minutes, 10.28 seconds and Vienneau followed in eighth.

Freshman Robin Chernow had a strong first day in her initial heptathlon competition. Placing first in the shot put, Chernow currently sits sixth overall.

Haverford stands sixth in team scoring going into Day 2 of competition. Events scheduled for Saturday include the long jump, 110 meter hurdles, discus, high jump, and 4x800 relay as well as trial heats in several other events. Action begins at 9:30 a.m. with the conclusion of the heptathlon.
