Fords sweep top two spots in 1,500m at Widener, Davis sets career mark

CHESTER, Pa. – Hannah Davis of Haverford College's women's outdoor track & field team raced to a career-best time in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday at the Widener (Univ.) Invitational, and freshman Fiona Hendry captured the 1,500m title as the Fords swept three of the top five spots.

Davis was fourth in her hurdles race Saturday at Widener, posting a time of 1 minute, 5.20 seconds which is a career-best mark for the senior. Her time is now the third-fastest on the Centennial Conference's in-season performance listing for the event.

Hendry's winning time of 4:41.43 is her collegiate best and bettered teammate Nora Weathers on Saturday by three seconds. Weathers was the runner-up in the event crossing the finish in 4:44.05 while teammate Hope Rainey was fifth (4:47.55). Hendry improved her standing within the league's performance list to sixth, while Weathers moves up to ninth and Rainey to 12th.

In Saturday's 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Andrea Tocci finished second with a time of 11:53.38. Tocci has a time from earlier this season (11:45.69) that is second-fastest on the Centennial's list.

Next up for the Fords is the Haverford Tri-Meet on their home track. Events start at 4 p.m. Tuesday on the Johnson Track.
