COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track & field team registered a standout day on the track on the second day of the Centennial Conference outdoor championships hosted by Ursinus College.

Junior Hope Rainey, the top seed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, delivered with a career-best time of 11 minutes, 13.23 seconds to finish first. Senior Andrea Tocci and freshman Maggie Heffernan completed the medal sweep for the Fords by finishing in second and third, respectively, to give Haverford an impressive 24 points in the event.

The final event of the day brought more points for Haverford as the 4x800 relay team used a record-breaking performance to finish third. Seniors Kara McMahon, Sara Hess and Cara Keifer joined forces with sophomore Katie Balmer to enter the program record books. The quartet finished in 9:16.31 to shatter the previous event record set in 2010 by over five seconds.

Sophomore Carolyn Oehrig produced the Fords' final point of the day with an eighth-place finish in the high jump.

Saturday's preliminaries saw freshman Nora Weathers, Balmer and Keifer qualify for Sunday's final in the 800 meter run. Senior Hannah Davis also moved on to the finals in the 400-meter hurdles with the third-best time from Saturday's trials.

Haverford currently sits in second in the team standings with 41 points heading into the final day of the three-day meet. Johns Hopkins, ranked 13th in Division III, leads the field with 83.50 points. Dickinson College rounds out the top three with 40 points.

Sunday's schedule begins at 11 a.m. and closes with the awards ceremony slated for 4:15 p.m.
