Distance Races Open Danny Curran Invite for Women's Track

CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team started its weekend at Widener's Danny Curran Invitational with the distance races on Friday evening. The Fords entered four runners in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meter races and came away with six top 10 finishers on the night.

Each of Haverford's four entrants in the 5,000 meters placed among the top 10 with Sophie Drew crossing the line in a time of 18:44.67 to finish as the runner-up in the field of 27 runners. Sarah Wade (19:27.08) placed fifth overall. Julia Smith (19:31.70) and Mckenna Krall (19:37.34) earned seventh and 10th place finishes, respectively.

Amelia Keyser-Gibson led the Fords in the 10K with her fourth place finish in a time of 38:26.40. MaryKate Cavanaugh also placed in the top 10 with her mark of 39:54.30, finishing ninth overall. Allison Hacker (41:08.50) and Amanda Glavin (41:56.00) finished in back-to-back positions with 12th and 13th place showings.

The Danny Curran Invitational continues on Saturday morning.
