CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team wrapped up its first competition of the season on Saturday at the Danny Curran Invitational. The Fords had a number of top 10 finishes to highlight the weekend.

The 800 meter and 1,500 meter races saw the most Haverford entrants. Sophie Drew led the team in both of those events with third place finishes in times of 2:24.17 and 4:51.06. Amalia Axinn was the second Haverford finisher at both of those distances. She placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.20. Axinn won her heat in the 1,500 meters in a time of 5:03.97 and placed eighth overall. Hannah Yeakey also had a top 10 performance in the 1,500 meters as she placed ninth with a time of 5:04.21.

In the sprints, Jessica Lopez led all Haverford finishers in the 200 and 400 meter races. Lopez placed 18th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.24. She was 19th in the 200 meters with a mark of 27.95 seconds. Marisa Antinori was Haverford's only entrant in the 100 meter dash and placed 21st with a time of 13.87 seconds. Kat Turner and Tess Oberholtzer had top 10 times in the 100 meter hurdles. Turner was sixth with a time of 17.07 seconds, while Oberholtzer was ninth in a time of 17.98 seconds.

Haverford's only field entrants on Saturday were in the hammer throw as Claire Sargent continued the battle among her teammates for the school record. Sargent's throw of 117 feet, 11 inches (35.95 meters) extended the previous school record held by Unique Tuberville. Sargent was sixth overall in that event on Saturday. Tuberville placed 20th in the hammer on Saturday with her best throw.

Women's track & field will return to action next Friday for the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton which is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m. The team will also be at West Chester's Bill Butler Invitational next Saturday.
