CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track & field team opened up its two day stint at the Widener Invitational on Friday evening, competing in throws and distance events to open up action under the lights.

Junior Kayla Robinson finished an impressive 10th in the shot put (11.15 meters or 36 feet, seven inches) to begin a busy weekend of events for the multi-specialist with the eighth-best mark in the program's outdoor history. Cortlyn Morris logged a throw of 10.79 meters (35 feet, 4.8 inches) for 12th overall while Sydney Cummings posted a throw of 9.02 meters (29 feet, 7 inches) for 31st. In the discus, Morris logged a 22nd place finish overall with a throw of 29.32 meters (96 feet, 2 inches).

In the 5,000 meters, Hedy Goodman posted a 38th place finish overall in 21:40.05, making her initial foray into that distance during the track season after competing as a member of the cross country squad in the fall but focusing on shorter distances (mainly the 800 meters) in the indoor campaign.

The rest of the squad will now be in action on Saturday at Widener, with events beginning at 9 a.m. in Chester, Pa.
