4x100 Meter Relay Record Broken as Women's Track & Field Places Fourth At CC Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track & field team concluded the three-day Centennial Conference Championship weekend at Ursinus on Sunday afternoon, tallying five podium finishes and a bulk of personal bests in a standout performance. The final day came to a close with Haverford finishing fourth in the team standings with 98 points.

The meet started with the women's 4x100 meter relay team earning a third-place finish and six points toward the overall team score. The team performed clean handoffs for a lap around the track in 48.57 seconds, setting a new program record. The team of Kayla Robinson, Olivia D'Aulerio, Jahsaiah Moses, and Ally Landau etched their name into the history books as they bested the previous Haverford record by 0.13 seconds.

Jahsaiah Moses competed in the 100-meter dash finals, and finished fourth with a time of 12.68. The senior was just 0.05 seconds off the podium but still scored five crucial points for Haverford.

Ally Landau continued her stellar weekend with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Landau crossed the finish line in 57.32, lowering her previous best of 57.79 set on Saturday. Joining her on the podium was first-year Olvia D'Auelrio, who finished third with a time of 57.70. That time was good enough for a personal best while also becoming just the third Haverford athlete to run sub-58 in the 400 meters. Landau and D'Aulerio tallied 14 points toward the team scores.

The rest of Robinson's day was at the sand pit as she competed in the triple jump. She earned another podium finish, an astounding fourth of the weekend, after finishing third in the triple jump. The senior leaped out to 11.29 meters (37 feet, 0.5 inches) and secured six points for the Fords.

More points later came in the 400-meter hurdles with both Moses and Rachel November scoring in the event. Moses finished fifth after running 1:07.96 while November finished eighth with a time of 1:11.61.

The throwers for Haverford also got in on the scoring action, led by Sydney Cummings and Cortlyn Morris. In the javelin, Cummings finished in fifth, throwing a personal best 34.70 meters (113 feet, 10 inches). Morris led the way in the shot put, finishing fourth with a personal best throw of 11.87 meters (38 feet, 11.5 inches).

Robinson finished sixth, throwing 11.72 meters (38 feet, 5.5 inches) while Sarah was seventh with a throw of 11.68 meters (38 feet, 4 inches). All together, that totaled 13 points for the Fords.

Landau and D'Aulerio returned to the track for the 200-meter dash and scored for Haverford. Landau took fourth, running a personal best of 25.69 while D'Aulerio finished seventh, running 26.03. Both athletes' final event came in the 4x400 meter relay where they were expected to make some noise.

The day came to a close with the 4x400-meter relay and the race did not disappoint. Landau, Isabel Thornberry, Moses, and D'Aulerio made up the relay that eventually finished second for a podium finish.

The gutsy performance from the quartet ran the third-best time in program history after crossing the finish line in 3:55.46. The time comes just over a week after running their previous best of 3:59.65 at Penn Relays. Landau clocked a blazing 56.19 for a lead-off split while D'Aulerio brought the baton home with a 58.40 split.

With the relay team registering eight points, the team finished with 98 points on the day, just 2.5 points out of a third-place team finish. The fourth-place finish is their highest finish since 2019 and the most points scored at championships since scoring 102 in 2016.

Next for the Haverford women's track & field team is the Widener Final Qualifier in Chester, Pennsylvania on Monday, May 15. The last chance meet will serve as an opportunity for athletes who are on the border of making the NCAA Championships to better their results to earn a spot.

The NCAA Division III Championships are scheduled for May 25-27 in Rochester, N.Y. at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex.
