Haverford Athletics

  • 46 Student-athletes were named to the Centennial Conference academic honor roll.
  • Three teams won conference or division championships – women’s basketball, women’s fencing and women’s squash.
  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team: Mike Iannacone (men’s indoor track), Hope Rainey (women’s basketball), Alexandra Ranucci (women’s track), Henry Stevens (men’s basketball).
  • 19 student-athletes were named to All-Centennial Conference teams.
  • Women’s basketball went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
  • Men’s indoor track had Avi Bregman, Charlie Marquardt, Jonathan Yellets, Gebby Keny and Christopher Stadler competed at NCAA Division III men’s indoor track & field championships.
  • Women’s fencing finished as the top Division III team at the National Intercollegiate Women’s Fencing Association (NIWFA) championships.

Men’s Basketball

  • Defeated eventual Centennial Conference playoff participant Muhlenberg 81-71 (Feb. 5).
  • Took down Hood Trophy rival Swarthmore 70-59 at the Gooding Arena (Jan. 22).
  • Revenged earlier loss to Washington College (Dec. 3) by beating their conference foe 86-80 on the road (Feb. 12).
  • All-Centennial Conference - (Cohen - second team)
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll - (Cipriano, Cohen, Levine, Stevens, Winkler)

Brett Cohen

  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team
  • City of Basketball Love All-Area team
  • Philadelphia Small College Coaches Sam Cozen Award
  • Led the conference in steals (48).
  • Became the 15th player in program history to score 1,000 points (1,199)
  • Centennial Conference Player of the Week twice (Nov. 18, Jan. 6)

Henry Stevens

  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team

Women’s Basketball

  • Captured the first Centennial Conference title and NCAA tournament victory in program history.
  • Hosted the Centennial tournament for the first time in program history.
  • Finished its non-conference slate a perfect 6-0 and started the season 8-0, their longest winning streak in program history.
  • Surpassed the 20-win mark for the first time.
  • Ranked among the top 15 nationally in scoring defense (seventh), field-goal percentage defense (10th) and turnovers per game (12th).
  • Established program records for conference victories (15) and overall wins (24).
  • All-Centennial Conference - (Lynch - second team, Pizzuto - second team, Voith - first team)
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll - (Baskin, Juneja, Pizzuto, Smith)
  • Tied for 16th in Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Team Honor Roll, the highest ranking in program history

Bobbi Morgan

  • Centennial Conference Coach of the Year
  • Finalist for Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) National Coach of the Year

Jacquelynne Pizzuto

  • Set a program record for free-throw percentage in a single season (.877, 57 for 65)
  • Finished the season ranked 13th nationally in assist-turnover ratio (2.43).
  • Marymount University Tip-Off Tournament MVP

Hope Rainey

  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team

Nina Voith

  • WBCA Division III Coaches All-American team honorable mention
  • D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team
  • Centennial Tournament MVP
  • Became the program’s all-time leading scorer (1,411 points).
  • Centennial Conference Player of the Week (Dec. 2).

Cara Wyant

  • Finished second at the Centennial Conference Championships
  • Placed 15th at Nationals.

Jeffrey Ainsley

  • Established a program record in the heptathlon (4,482 points) at the Centennial Conference championship meet.
  • Centennial Conference Field Performer of the Week (Feb. 3)

Avi Bregman

  • Competed at the NCAA indoor track championships

Sam Fujimori

  • Part of the distance medley relay team that broke the conference championship meet record (10:29.87)

Chris Gardner

  • Part of the distance medley relay team that broke the conference championship meet record (10:29.87)

Michael Iannacone

  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team

Gebby Keny

  • Part of the distance medley relay team that earned All-American honors with a second place finish at the NCAA indoor track championships.

Charlie Marquardt

  • Part of the distance medley relay team that earned All-American honors with a second place finish at the NCAA indoor track championships.
  • Set Centennial Conference championship meet record with a 4:14.03 mile.
  • Established Tuft’s Gantcher Center record in the mile (4:10.97) on February 1st.
  • Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week (Feb. 24)

Cormac Rada

  • Part of the distance medley relay team that broke the conference championship meet record (10:29.87)

Soren Rasmussen

  • Part of the distance medley relay team that broke the conference championship meet record (10:29.87)

Christopher Stadler

  • Earned All-American honors after posting a fifth place finish in the 3,000 meter run (8:16.63) at the NCAA indoor track championships.
  • Part of the distance medley relay team that earned All-American honors with a second place finish at the NCAA indoor track championships.
  • Named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mideast Region Track Athlete of the Year.
  • Outstanding Men’s Track Performer of the Centennial Conference Championship
  • Broke the conference championship records in the 5,000 meter (14:33.59) and 3,000 meter (8:33.12) runs.
  • Earned NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship following the indoor track and field season.
  • Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Runner of the Week (Jan. 27)

Jonathan Yellets

  • Part of the distance medley relay team that earned All-American honors with a second place finish at the NCAA indoor track championships.

Brittany Steele

  • Named the outstanding rookie performer of the conference championship meet.

Women’s Squash

  • Won the College Squash Association (CSA) E Division Championship for the second straight year.
  • Established a new program record for wins in a season.
  • Senior Caroline Nightingale, junior Alex Love and sophomore Bethany Simmonds concluded the season by playing in the College Squash Association’s national individual tournament.

  • Placed third at the Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference (EWFC) championships.
  • Claimed the sabre squad title at the EWFC championships.
  • Finished as the top Division III team at the National Intercollegiate Women’s Fencing Association (NIWFA) championships.
  • EWFC All-Stars - (Braun - foil - second team, Hawthorne - sabre - second team, Petersen - epee- first team, Poling - foil - second team, Sofia - epee - first team, Ting - sabre - second team)

Men’s Fencing

  • Placed third at the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (MACFA) team championships.
  • Sophomore Nathan Vestrich-Shade participated in the College Squash Association’s national individual tournament.

Eric Gardner

  • Became the fourth Haverford epeeist in the last six years to win gold at the conference individual championships.
