Haverford College Athletics

  • For the second straight season, all six fall sports competed for a Centennial Conference championship.
  • Haverford had the most student-athletes (61) merit inclusion to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll.
  • The Fords finished in 11th in Division III in the final fall standings of the all-sports Learfield Cup.
  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team: Olivia Coburn-Flynn (volleyball), Bridget Gibbons (field hockey), Michael Riccio (men's cross country), David Robinson (men's soccer) and Emily Scott (women's cross country)

Men’s Cross Country

  • Finished in a tie for second at the NCAA national championship.
  • Had two USTFCCA All-Americans: Christopher Stadler and Peter Kissin
  • Was ranked in the top two of the USTFCCCA national poll throughout the season.
  • Claimed its third straight regional crown and 21st overall.
  • Won its third straight, and 18th overall, Centennial title.
  • Was the highest finishing Division-III program at the Paul Short Run (17th) and Princeton Invitational (fourth).
  • All-Centennial Conference: (Stadler – first team, Christian – first team, Bregman –first team, Kissin – first team, Stokas – second team)
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll – (Bregman, Buikema, Colletta, Curry, Drake, Gabor, Haswell, Keny, Kissin, Marsico, McNeilly, Mendelsohn, Milic-Strkalj, Priver, Riccio, Stackman, Stadler)

Women’s Cross Country

  • Finished 13th at the NCAA national championship.
  • Fiona Hendry ran to a 23rd-place finish at the national meet to earn All-American honors.
  • All-Centennial Conference – (Hendry – second team, Balmer – second team)
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll – (Balmer, Berklein, Duffy, Farley,Freeley, Hess, Howe, Kantor, Keifer, Lellman, Letner, Riffenburgh, Rosenbaum, Uddin)
  • With a second-place finish, the team finished in the top four at the regional meet for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
  • Made it 13 consecutive years of a top-three finish in the conference standings when it finished second at the Centennial championship held at Alumni Course.
  • Ran to a first-place finish in the long course portion of the Dickinson Invitational.
  • Ranked 26th in the USTFCCCA national preseason poll, the Fords moved all the way up to a tie for eighth in the final poll before the national meet

Katie Balmer

  • Ran to a 23rd-place finish at the national meet to earn All-American honors.
  • All-Mideast Region team

Field Hockey

  • Qualified for the conference tournament for the fourth consecutive year and reached the Centennial championship game for the second time in the last three years.
  • Tied the single-season record for wins in a season with 14.
  • Was ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) top-20 all year and finished the season with a ranking of 19th in the nation.
  • All-Centennial Conference – (Hobbs – first team, Gibbons – first team, Quake – second team)
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll – (Bissey, Crist, Gibbons, Hobbs, Hyder, Mayo)

Mary Hobbs

  • Graduates as the program leader in goals (65), assists (41) and points (171).
  • Played in the NFHCA Division III Senior Game.
  • NFHCA All-American – second team
  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey team

  • Tied the single-season program record for wins with 13.

Bridget Gibbons

  • Named to All-South Region first team
  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team

Men’s Soccer

  • Captured the Centennial Championship for the first time in program history.
  • Advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history when it got past Wesleyan (Conn.) University, in penalty kicks, 4-2.
  • Tallied the most overall wins (12) since the 1999 squad and tied for the fourth-highest win total in program history.
  • Registered the most Centennial victories in program history (six).
  • The victory over Rowan University on Oct.2 was the first win in program history over the Profs.
  • All-Centennial Conference – (Gorski – first team, Morollo – honorable mention, Reingruber – honorable mention, Seitz – honorable mention, Yarosh – honorable mention)
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll – (Barlowe, Bohrmann, Calas, Henderson, Johnson, Lubelczyk, Reingruber, Robinson)

Matt Gorski

  • National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 2012 Division III All-Mid-Atlantic team – second team
  • Graduates as the program leader in penalty kicks with four.

David Robinson

  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team

Women’s Soccer

  • Claimed its first Centennial tournament championship with a 2-1 victory over host and 24th-ranked Johns Hopkins University.
  • Graduating class compiled a four-year record of 50-14-11 to become the winningest class in program history.
  • Qualified for the Centennial Conference playoffs for the sixth consecutive year.
  • Played the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to a scoreless tie through regulation and two overtime periods in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Walton Field. The Engineers advanced on penalty kicks, 4-2.
  • Went unbeaten at home (9-0-1) for the first time since 2005.
  • Was tied for 25th in the NSCAA final regular season national poll.
  • All-Centennial Conference – (Boyer – first team, Chen – first team, Newman – second team).
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll – (Antonisse, Babicz, Baker, Boyer, Chen, Chernow, Friedman, Hasselgren, Hoffman, McMahon, Miller and Newman)

Mariah Baker

  • NSCAA 2012 College Division Scholar All-East Region – honorable mention

Meg Boyer

  • NSCAA 2012 Division III All-Mid-Atlantic team – first team
  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Soccer team

Allie Chen

  • NSCAA 2012 Division III All-Mid-Atlantic team – third team
  • NSCAA 2012 College Division Scholar All-East Region – fourth team

Robin Chernow

  • Led all conference netminders with eight shutouts.

  • Graduates as the career (228) and season (91 in 2010) record holder in block assists.
