Four score in double-digits during loss at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Cam Baker's 12 points led a quartet of Fords that scored in double-figures Saturday afternoon, but Haverford College's men's basketball team wasn't able to overcome a 63 percent day on the floor from host Gettysburg College as the Bullets downed the Fords, 86-61, in Centennial Conference action in Bream Gym.

Haverford (5-10, 3-7 CC) shot 44 percent from the floor with Brett Cohen, Lucas Colombo and Anthony Reyes each scoring 11 points to add to Baker's dozen. The red-hot Bullets (9-8, 5-5), who never trailed, hit 37 of their 57 shots from the field with Connor Poston registering a game-high 19 points as Alex Zurn chipped in with another 16.

The Fords fell behind early but rallied from a 10-point deficit to pull within a basket at the nine-minute mark. Haverford's James Levine stole the ball from Thomas Brock in the Bullets' offensive end and Gibby Graves was able to finish the transition play with a layup to move the Fords within two, 19-17.

Over the next four-plus minutes, though, Gettysburg was able to reel off a 13-0 run to pull away from the Fords. A Colombo layup halted the run but the damage had been done. The Bullets finished the opening half with an 18-point lead, 44-26, then stretched the advantage to as many as 29 before finishing the contest ahead by 25.

Haverford continues a two-game road stretch with its next outing taking on Swarthmore College on Wednesday, Jan. 23 in a rivalry match-up between the Fords and Garnet.
