WESTMINSTER, Md. – Cam Baker hit for a game-high 26 points and Brett Cohen added 18 more for the Fords but Haverford College's men's basketball team fell to host McDaniel College, 70-59, in Centennial Conference action Saturday afternoon in the Gill Center.

Haverford (7-13, 5-9 CC) trailed by nine at the half and fell behind the Green Terror (12-9, 6-8) by 16 points a little more than two minutes into the second-half, but the Fords rallied to pull within a point, 52-51, at the 5:53 mark.

A 16-5 run keyed the rally as Baker scored 10 of the 16 including a jumper that trimmed the deficit to one. McDaniel finally halted the rally and answered with a 6-0 run, then enlarged its advantage over the remaining four minutes.

The Green Terror shot of the gate in the first half with a 9-0 streak before Cohen's layup would get Haverford on the board. With 3:56 to play in the half the McDaniel lead was at 11 until a short burst by the Fords cut it to five.

Baker and Cohen finished with 44 of the team's 59 points on a day when the Fords shot 43 percent from the floor. The Haverford defense forced 19 turnovers and generated 26 points off those turnovers. However, McDaniel hit 58 percent of its shots on the day and owned a 38-22 advantage in rebounding to help the home team hold off the visitors.

The Fords get to return home to the friendly confines of Gooding Arena for their next game, an 8 p.m. conference match-up against Ursinus College on Wednesday. Six of Haverford's seven victories have come at home this season.
