Men's Basketball Releases 2014-15 Schedule

2014-15 Men's Basketball Schedule

Haverford, Pa. – The Haverford College men's basketball team has announced its 2014-15 schedule. The Fords will be at home 12 times during the upcoming season. Highlighting the road contests this season will be a trip to Daytona Beach at the end of December for a pair of games.

The Fords begin the 2014-15 campaign in the Equinox Tournament. After playing Bard College at Swarthmore College (Nov. 15), Haverford opens its home slate one day later against Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) (Nov. 16).

Centennial Conference play quickly gets underway at home against Dickinson (Nov. 22) and Muhlenberg (Nov. 25). Dickinson lost the Centennial Conference Tournament final to John Hopkins last season, but received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and went to the Elite Eight. Both of those home games will feature a doubleheader with the Haverford women's basketball team.

A season-high four game homestand ends vs. Christopher Newport (Nov. 30). The Capital Athletic Conference foe won 19 games. The first true road contest of the year will see Haverford travel to Washington College (Dec. 2) and Franklin & Marshall (Dec. 6) before returning home against Moravian (Dec. 13).

Following the home contest against Moravian, Haverford will make the trip to the Sunshine State for a pair of games at the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla. While there, the team will battle Oswego State (Dec. 28) and Rensselaer (Dec. 29).

The reigning Centennial Conference Champion, Johns Hopkins, travels to the Gooding Arena on Jan. 7. After McDaniel comes for a visit on Jan. 10, the Fords have six of their next eight on the road. Home games vs. Franklin & Marshall (Jan. 24) and Ursinus (Jan. 27) are sandwiched between a pair of three-game road trips. The first trip will feature games at Gettysburg (Jan. 13), Dickinson (Jan. 17), and Swarthmore (Jan. 21). After the two home contests, the Fords trek to Johns Hopkins (Jan. 31), Muhlenberg (Feb. 4), and McDaniel (Feb. 7).

Haverford returns home for three of four games to finish the regular season. Head Coach Michael Mucci's squad hosts Washington College (Feb. 11) and Gettysburg (Feb. 14). The Fords split with those two teams last season. The road portion of the regular season ends at Ursinus (Feb. 18). The home finale will also be the second half of the team's Hood Trophy battle as Swarthmore comes to Haverford on Feb. 21. The Centennial Conference tournament begins Feb. 25 with the first round game.

The 2014-15 season will be the 20th season with Mucci leading the Fords. Mucci enters the season with 171 wins, the most of any coach in program history. His squad went 8-16 last season, including a 4-14 mark in the Centennial Conference. That record tied them for eighth place in the conference.
