Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Joe Scibelli has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season and third time during his career after leading Haverford to an 86-74 victory last Thursday at Bryn Athyn. Scibelli scored 26 points and pulled down a career-high 20 rebounds for his Centennial Conference-leading seventh double-double this season.

Highlighting the 15th 20-plus point outing of Scibelli's career was a perfect 12-for-12 night at the free throw line. His perfect percentage in 12 attempts tied the school record set by teammate Kahlil Garnes for most consecutive free throws made without a single miss during a single game in program history. Scibelli has now scored 25 or more points on six occasions throughout his career and recorded 25 double-doubles. He also added four assists, two blocks, and a steal in his 36 minutes of action.

Just two weeks ago, Scibelli became the 17th player in program history to eclipse the 1,000 point mark when he did so against Washington College. With his 26 point outing against Bryn Athyn, the senior passed five players on the all-time scoring list in that game alone and now ranks 12th in school history with 1,031 career points. His 14.3 points per game is the 13th best scoring average in school history. Scibelli now has 601 rebounds for his career, ranking seventh in school history. He is averaging 8.3 boards per game during his career and is also among the top five players in career blocked shots.

Scibelli is currently leading the Centennial Conference with 11.2 rebounds per game and averaging a double-double with the second-best scoring average in the conference (17.0 ppg). His 90.9 percent mark at the line this season is currently the best single-season mark in school history. Those numbers have helped the Fords post their best rebounding margin (+9.6 per game) since the 1960s.

With Haverford College currently in the midst of final exams and the holiday season upcoming, men's basketball is on an extended break from competition. The Fords will return to the court on January 4, 2019, to take on Misericordia at 8 p.m. as part of the Lycoming Tournament.
