Men's Basketball Welcomes Alumni to Gooding Arena

HAVERFORD, Pa. -  The Haverford College men's basketball program welcomed back its alumni for the season finale against Dickinson on Saturday afternoon inside Gooding '84 Arena, opening the doors for former players to return for the first time since February of 2020. The alumni took part in a spirited pick-up game prior to tip-off before watching the current varsity squad take on the Red Devils later that afternoon.

Alumni from the program who returned to campus to participate in the alumni event included current assistant coach Justin Heidig '21, Josh Radin '21, Jesse Turkson '21, Joe Hartman '20, Joe Wujciak '20, Grayson Roth '20, Kahlil Garnes '20, Joe Scibelli '19, Jeremy Evans '19, Josh Fried '18, Matt Sherman '17, Henry Stephens '16, Justin Winkler '16, Anthony Reyes '16, James Levine '15, Sam Permutt '11, and Ryan Hoffman '97.  

Saturday also gave the Fords a chance to present the annual recipient all-time of the Mike Mucci Award as Mucci was in attendance for the special day. Former head coach Mike Mucci won 185 games during his time as head coach of the Fords. He started coaching the team during the 1995-96 season up until his retirement at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. He retired as the all-time winningest coach in program history.

Senior Stephen Flanders was announced as the newest recipient of the Mike Mucci Award. This award is given to an upperclass member of the team who consistently displays high character, sportsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to the values of the program, athletic department, and broader Haverford community.
