Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College Men's Basketball first-year guard Gaven Marr (Glenview Ill./Glenbrook South H.S.) has been selected as the Centennial Conference Player of the Week following a memorable contest against Washington College on November 21. 

Marr paced the Fords in a 68-53 win over Washington College last Tuesday in the Centennial Conference opener. Marr dropped 21 points against the Shoremen, including a perfect 6-for-6 performance from behind the arc. 

The Glenview, Ill. native also produced a well-rounded stat line, pulling down five rebounds and dishing out four assists. In 30 minutes of play, Marr shot an impressive 7-for-9 from the field, and converted his only free throw attempt.

The award marks the first collegiate honor for Marr, who was previously named to the 2022-2023 CSL All-Conference Team during his high school senior season in the Chicago area. 

The accolade is the first weekly award earned by the men's basketball team since the 2021-22 season, where former Haverford guard Josh Love took home the award in December of 2021. 

Marr and the Fords hit the road for their next contest, traveling to Collegeville, Pa. to take on the Bears of Ursinus on Tuesday, November 28. The matchup will be game two of a doubleheader with the Haverford Women's basketball team, with the men's tip-off following the women's contest against the Bears. Tip-off for the men's matchup is slated for an 8 p.m. start.
