Men's Squash Heads to CSA Team Championships

CSA Team Championships Information

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's squash team will travel to the Loomis Chaffee School to take part in the Chaffee Cup of the College Squash Association's (CSA) Team Championships from Friday through Sunday.

The CSA Team Championships will have 62 teams participating among eight divisions. The Potter Cup will feature the No. 1-8 ranked teams in the Dunlop Men's College Squash Rankings while the Hoehn Cup will have the 9th-16th placed teams. The Summers Cup has the 17th-24th teams and the Conroy Cup has the 25th-32nd teams. Haverford's division contains the teams 33rd-40th in the rankings. The 41st-48th teams are in the Serues Cup while the 49th-56th placed teams make up the Hawthorn Cup. The H Division will be a round-robin tournament with 57th-63rd teams in the last rankings.

Haverford finished the regular season at 10-7, its most wins since the 2006-07 campaign. The Fords ended the season winning five of the last seven matches to jump to No. 37 in the latest national rankings. Freshman Peter Dudley led the team with 11 wins while freshman Zach Cole also reached the double figure mark with 10 victories. Cole also became the first player in program history to be named the Harrow Sports College Men's Squash Player of the Week (Feb. 12). Junior Laurenson Ward also tied his career high with nine wins this year.

Head coach Niki Clement's team will take on the No. 36 NYU Violets on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. Haverford split with NYU this season. The Fords won the season opener against the Violets 5-4 (Nov. 8), but NYU scored its revenge with an 8-1 triumph (Nov. 22). The winner of that match will battle the winner of No. 33 Georgetown and No. 40 Lehigh on Saturday. Other teams in the bracket are Denison, Northeastern, Fordham and Johns Hopkins.
