CHESTER, Pa. - Haverford College sophomore Henry Woods finished atop the leaderboard in the 5,000 meter run, while seniors Dylan Verner-Crist and Sam Fujimori finished among the top three in the 10,000 meters to begin the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University on Friday. In all, it was about as good of a start to the outdoor track and field season as Haverford could have hoped to get as those were the only two track events to occur on day one of the invite.

Woods finished the 5,000 in 14:54.60, over six seconds faster than the second place runner and over ten seconds faster than third place. In the same event during the Danny Curran Invite last year, Woods ran a 15:08.85.

Also in the 5,000m, freshman Ian Stellar picked up a top ten finish with a time of 15:31.44, good for ninth place.

In the 10,000m, Haverford placed five separate top ten finishers, highlighted by Verner-Crist (31:17.08) and Fujimori (31:47.52) in second and third place.

Also placing at the top for Haverford, junior Charlie Hale ran a new personal best time of 32:03.66 to finish in fifth place. Juniors Evan Hamilton (32:42.83) and Jimmy Gorman (32:49.40) also finished among the top ten.

Haverford will continue the Danny Curran Invitational tomorrow.
