Sprints, Jumps, and Throws Highlight Day Two of Danny Curran Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track & field team continued its early season stint at the Danny Curran Invitational, opening up the 2022 slate with sprints, jumps, and throws highlighting the second full day of action at Widener University. 

In Saturday's lone throwing event, Juan Miguel Pinto Diaz earned a 21.43 meter mark (70 feet, four inches) in the hammer throw. That mark represents the ninth-best in program history in the event. Alex Reichard looked strong with his 14th-place finish in the 100 meters (11.52), with Nathan Ma (12.11) crossing in 28th overall. Amon-Ra Kamit was the 29th place finisher (12.12) while Boahen Kwakye crossed in 44th (13.04). 

Ravi Eaton was the top Haverford finisher in the 400 meters, crossing in 13th place (52.41) while Matthew Ruiz was 51st (1:03.81). The 200 meter contingent was paced by Amon-Ra Kamit (24.84), as Kamit finished in 38th place overall. Ma (25.40), Kevin Villafane (27:15), and Ruiz (27.24) also represented the Fords in the event.

A large grouping in the 1,500 meters was paced by Nick Scardigno, as Scardigno crossed in 34th place overall (4:27.75). Caesar Dai (4:28.38), Sam Diaz (4:36.91), Seawon Park (4:44.56), Kieran McDonnell (4:50.54), and Tommaso Wheeler (4:53.54) also logged top 50 finishes on Saturday.

Ethan Gadra finished third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4 meters (13 feet, 1.5 inches) while Jacob Foster was third in the long jump, clearing 6.6 meters (21 feet, eight inches). Ravi Eaton was 15th in the event with a mark of 5.87 meters (19 feet, 3.25 inches).

The Fords next return to action on Saturday, April 9 at the Ursinus Outdoor Invitational. Action is slated to begin at approximately 10 a.m. in Collegeville.
