5,000 Meters Highlights Day One at Widener Invite for Men's Track & Field

CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track & field team opened up its two day stint at the Widener Invitational on Friday evening, with a large distance contingent in the 5,000 meters highlighting a very seasonable night with perfect running conditions. 

That large contingent in the 5,000 meters was paced by Peter LaRochelle who crossed in fourth overall with a time of 14:48.03, easily establishing a new PR in the process. Also finishing in the top 20 in the event were Max Brelig in 10th (14:57.09), Aaron Bratt right behind in 11th (14:57.69), and Amos Karlsen crossing in 12th (14:58.44). 

Miles Colescott crossed in 21st (15:06.95), while Ryan Quenemoen was 38th (15:30.17) and Nico Tripeny (52nd, 15:44.88) guided a pack that included Evan Daniels (54th, 15:47.26). Rowan Shigeno (74th, 16:17.02) and Jay Whitesell (8th, 17:47.09) rounded out the Haverford runners.

Cyrus Slavin contested the shot put, finishing 46th with a throw of 10.05 meters (32 feet, 11.67 inches). 

The rest of the squad will now be in action on Saturday at Widener, with events beginning at 9 a.m. in Chester.
