COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - On day three of the Centennial Conference outdoor track & field championships at Patterson Field, The Haverford College men's track & field team wrapped up action with a bevy of scoring performances and a gold medal from junior Jamie Moreland in the 1,500 meters. Haverford finishes the two-day meet with a sixth-place showing, tallying 71 points.

Moreland claimed the crown in an exhilarating 1,500 meters race, as he clocked a 3:53.58, good for a clear advantage over Arthur Beyer of Johns Hopkins, who finished second. A blazing fast 200-meter finish helped lift Moreland on the final lap. This is Moreland's first outdoor 1,500-meter crown at the conference championships, but he did capture the title in the indoor mile in both 2022 and 2020, establishing himself as one of the most decorated competitors in the Centennial Conference with the Outstanding Performer of the Meet designation as a sophomore in 2020.

Also, finishing in the scoring was Reza Eshghi in seventh (4:02.12) while Nico Tripeny (4:03.69) and Matthew Denton (4:05.41) finished just outside of the scoring in ninth and 10th, respectively.  Moreland, attempting to complete a middle distance double with the 800 meters also on the docket, finished with a medal in that event too, clocking a time of 1:54.54, good for third and a bronze. Beyer took the crown in that event.

In the 5,000 meters, Ryan Kredell grabbed his second medal of the weekend, following up his 10,000-meter silver with a bronze in the 5,000. In that Sunday performance, Kredell finished in 14:40.96, well ahead of fourth-place Atticus Hempel of Swarthmore. Max Brelig notched a scoring performance for Haverford as well, taking fifth in 14:43.02 while Aaron Bratt (15:04.72) and Amos Karlsen (15:07.07) also added to Haverford's tally with seventh and eighth place finishes, respectively.

Peter LaRochelle (15:08.67) and Miles Colescott (15:11.51) were just outside of the scoring in 10th and 11th while Ryan Quenemoen (15:48.17) and Evan Daniels (15:55.11) also posted top 25 finishes in the penultimate event of the weekend.

Ravi Eaton was just outside of the scoring in the triple jump, posting a mark of 12.6 meters (41 feet, four inches) on his final attempt to finish ninth. In relay events, the 4x100 meter team of Alex Reichard, Jonathan Hill, Jacob Foster, and Eaton finished eighth, scoring a point for Haverford with a time for 43.71. Foster, Hill, Eaton, and Denton also logged a sixth-place showing in the 4x400 meter relay, crossing in 3:26.89 while scoring three points for the Fords.

Ursinus claimed the overall crown with 215 scoring points, in what ultimately became a thrilling but sustained upset over preseason favorite Johns Hopkins, who finished with 189 points. Dickinson was the other team to crack 100 points, putting up 101 for third. The title is the first title for the Bears in the conference's outdoor track & field history.

With a big final day of action now in the books, Haverford will next be in action on the track at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet, which is slated for Monday, May 16 with events starting at approximately 3 p.m. The Swarthmore-hosted event will be held in Chester, Pa. on the campus of Widener.
