CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track & field team was well represented on the first night of action at the Widener Invitational, with Jamie Moreland competing in the 800 meters while Ryan Kredell and Reza Eshghi in the mile run and a larger grouping of Fords in the 5,000 meters. 

Jamie Moreland finished fourth in the Elite 800 meter race, narrowly missing a PR with a mark of 1:50.90. Moreland showed great strength and endurance throughout the race, staying with the lead pack of elite runners and ultimately finishing with a strong kick. Moreland was the only Division III runner in the race, as he finished just behind Antaures Jackson and Titus Bretzke of Division I Penn.

In the Men's mile Haverford had two athletes place in the top ten. Ryan Kredell finished in eighth place with a time of 4:07.89, a new personal best. The time was among the top 10 in program history in the outdoor mile. Reza Eshghi finished right behind Kredell in ninth place with a time of 4:08.34, also a new personal best and within Haverford's top 10 in program history.

In the Men's 5000m race, Haverford College had four athletes competing on a seasonable night at Widener. Tommaso Wheeler led the team with a third-place finish, completing the race in 16:56.51. 

Kieran McDonnell (18:22.15), Xingyun Yang (18:30.30), and Deven Abrams (18:35.18) also competed in the Men's 5000m race, finishing in 14th, 16th, and 17th place, respectively. Abram was making his outdoor debuts in the 5,000-meter run.

Action now continues tomorrow at the Widener Invitational for day two of the festivities. The first event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
