Men's Track & Field Impressive on Second Day of CC Outdoor Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Haverford closed the second day of action at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Ursinus, posting a pair of scoring performances while also earning some crucial qualifying marks in preliminary action. At the completion of events on day two, Haverford sits in sixth with 30 total points.

Haverford picked up a scoring performance in the steeplechase, as Nathaniel Leighninger finished a strong performance in fifth place overall, with a time of 9:40.45, logging four points towards the Haverford ledger. Seamus Flannery was just outside the scoring, finishing 14th with a time of 10:16.46, while Sammy Schindel was just behind Flannery in 15th overall (10:21.72). 

The 4x800 meter relay squad of Micah Lachman, Reed Solomon, Matthew Denton, and Reza Eshghi clocked a fourth-place overall finish, picking up five points in 7:46.03, the 10th best performance in program history. 

In the 800 meter prelims, Jamie Moreland breezed to qualification with a time of 1:54.37, finishing with the top qualification time as he will look to take down both the 800-meter and 1,500 meter crowns on Sunday to complete a middle distance double. Sam Diaz narrowly missed qualification but posted a major milestone as he finished 11th in a personal-best 1:58.06, going below two minutes for the first time in his career in a stellar performance. 

Jonathan Hill also qualified in the 200-meter dash, finishing fourth in 22.15, a new personal best for the junior, returning to the finals after missing out a season ago while logging the seventh best mark in program history. Kinnan Abdalhamid finished 23rd, clocking a 24:02. 

David Cole was 20th in the 100-meter prelims (12.45) while Amon-Ra Kamit was 21st (12.63) as the pair missed out on qualification to the final. 

Nathan Ma finished 16th in the long jump, clearing 5.79 meters (19 feet), while Leo Gordon was 21st in 5.27 meters (17 feet, 3.5 inches).

A busy third day of action is on the slate tomorrow, with an all-finals schedule beginning in earnest with a starting time of 11 a.m. at Patterson Field on the Ursinus campus. Live video and live results can be accessed via the Championships Central page.
