HAVERFORD, Pa. -  The Haverford College men's outdoor track & field team has been projected to finish third in the Centennial Conference, the conference office announced in a release on Thursday morning.

The preseason poll has Johns Hopkins garnering the top spot in the Centennial, with 61 voting points and five first-place votes. The Blue Jays look to recapture the Centennial Conference crown after last winning the championship in 2021.

Defending back-to-back champion Ursinus was selected second in the poll, collecting 60 voting points while claiming the remaining four first-place votes. Haverford sits in third spot with 48 voting points, while Muhlenbergl(fourth place, 38 points) and McDaniel (fifth place, 36 points) fill out the top five in the conference prognostication. Dickinson was predicted sixth, gathering 32 points, as Franklin & Marshall (7th place, 22 points), Swarthmore (8th place, 17 points) and Gettysburg (9th place, 10 points) round out the 2024 preseason poll.

After finishing the season in fifth place a season ago, the Fords look to build upon a successful foundation that saw four Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week awards, five all-conference selections, and an impressive 13 Indoor All-Metro Region Certificate winners.

Haverford will look to continue to add to a successful winter season under first-year head coach Matt Cohen. The Fords earned six All-Metro Region Certificates (Matthew Denton: 800 meters, mile, Reza Eshghi: 3000 meters, Mile, Peter LaRochelle: 3000 meters, 5000 meters)  two First-Team All-Centennial selections (Ravi Eaton: Triple Jump, Reza Eshghi: Mile), four Second-team All-Centennial picks (Ravi Eaton: Long Jump, Reza Eshghi: 3000m, Peter LaRochelle: 5000m, Matthew Denton: Mile), and a Centennial Conference honorable mention (Jory Lee: Triple Jump).

A key returner for Haverford this season is junior Reza Eshghi, who is coming off an NCAA Championship appearance and second-team All-American honors in the mile from the Indoor season.

Widener University and Chester, Pa. will be the site of the first 2024 outdoor track and field competition, as the Fords will compete in the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday, March 29th and Saturday, March 30th.

Muhlenberg will be the hosts of the 2024 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, with the three-day event taking place from May 3 to May 5, 2024.
