Three Bronze Medals for Women's Track & Field on Day 1 of Centennial Championships

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team kicked off day one of the Centennial Conference Championships with three bronze medal performances. Overall the Fords scored in four of the five events which they were entered. Heading into the second and final day of the championship, Haverford is in 4th place with 22 points.

Unique Tuberville got the day off to a very strong start as she rewrote her own school record in the weight throw with a toss of 14.13 meters (46'-4.25"). That throw earned Tuberville honorable mention All-Centennial Conference accolades in the weight throw for the second consecutive season. Her best throw moved her school record forward by more than two feet.

Jessica Lopez was another individual bronze medalist for the Fords as she earned honorable mention All-CC status in the triple jump. Needing a big mark on her final attempt, Lopez did just that as her final leap was measured at 10.42 meters (34'-2.25") to earn all-conference status in that event for the second straight season. Lopez also qualified to Sunday's final in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.08 seconds. That time bested her seed and ranked fifth overall in the preliminaries. Marisa Antinori was 13th in the qualifying heats with a time of 8.41 seconds, missing the finals by just over a tenth of a second.

Haverford closed its afternoon with two more scoring performances in the relays. The Fords' 4x200 relay earned the final bronze medal of the day as the team of Antinori, Lopez, Jahsaiah Moses, and Jasmine Reed crossed the line in third with a time of 1:49.78. The Fords' distance medley relay was fifth in a time of 12:45.94. Sheena Dwyer-McNulty, Fiona Flynn, Amalia Axinn, and Jolie Jaycobs were responsible for cutting several seconds off of the seed time during that performance.

Also on the track, Haverford entered four individuals in the 5,000 meters. Angie Petrichenko just missed a scoring performance as she was ninth overall, crossing the line in 18:31.45. Izzy Miller was just outside the top 10 with a time of 18:38.79 while Cate Tomson (19:31.97) and Ellie Keating (19:47.39) were both among the top 20 finishers in their conference championship debuts.

The 2020 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships will wrap up Sunday. Haverford will be looking for another strong start with the throws as Tuberville and Mari Horton kick off the Fords' action with the shot put set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
