Giannetti, 4x800 Relay Turn in All-CC Performances Saturday at Conference Championship

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team added three more scoring performances to its team total and sent five runners into their respective event finals to be held on Sunday during day two of the Centennial Conference Championships. Heading into the final day of the championship meet, the Fords have scored 27 points and are in fifth place in the team standings.

Nicole Giannetti was the Fords' highest placing individual in a finals only event as she finished runner-up in the steeplechase to earn her second All-Centennial Conference recognition for that event. Giannetti crossed the line with a time of 11:23.98, while Liana Alves just missed a scoring performance with her ninth place finish in the event. Giannetti also ran the first leg of the All-Centennial Conference 4x800 relay team that place second overall. Sophie Drew, Molly Hawkins, and Katie Sullivan joined on that relay which finished in a time of 9:23.67 for the fifth fastest time in school history.

Emily Anderson added four more points to Haverford's total with a fifth place showing in the discus. Her best throw was measured at 35.39 meters. Claire Sargent was just a few feet away from a scoring performance, placing 10th overall. Kerry Quigley was Haverford's only jumper to compete on Saturday and was 13th in the long jump with her best mark of 4.54 meters.

Haverford sent two runners to the event finals in both the 800 meters and 100 meter hurdles. Sullivan turned in the fastest time in the 800 meter preliminary heats with a qualifying mark of 2:15.83, just six-tenths of a second off her career best. Drew claimed the last spot in the finals of that event with a time of 2:20.27. In the 100 meter hurdle qualifying races, Tess Oberholtzer (16.12 seconds) and Kat Turner (16.27 seconds) were fourth and sixth overall, respectively, both advancing to Sunday's final. Jessica Lopez will represent Haverford in the 100 meter dash as her time of 12.84 seconds was a personal best by three-hundredths of a second and placed her fourth after the qualifying heats.

The 2018 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships will wrap up on Sunday. The women's first event will be the javelin and 4x100 relay with both events set for 11 a.m. starts.
