Lipman earns All-American honor; Fords 30th at national meet

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Emily Lipman raced to All-American honors for the Haverford College women's cross country team Saturday morning at the NCAA Division III national championship meet, helping to lead her Fords teammates to a 30th place finish.

Lipman finished 24th overall (17th in the 'team-scoring' places) covering the 6-kilometer route on the Highland Park Golf Course in a time of 22 minutes, 39.1 seconds. The individual title was captured by St. Lawrence University's Wendy Pavlus whose winning time of 21:28.0 pushed her team to a national runner-up finish behind the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Haverford's next four scoring runners after Lipman finished within 32 seconds of each other continuing a season-long trend.

Liz Zoidis was 130th to lead the quartet with a time of 24:17.9. Alice Vieanneau was next in 155th (24:37.9) finishing just ahead of Harper Hubbeling in 156th (24:38.0). Andrea Tocci capped a stellar freshman campaign with a 168th place finish in a time of 24:50.3.

Rounding out the Haverford contingent were Caitlin Tully in 203rd (25:25.1) and Kaitlyn Shank in 207th (25:28.3).

Lipman, 87th at last year's national meet and the 2009 Centennial Conference individual champion, was the highest-placing league runner in the meet. Centennial team champion Johns Hopkins University finished seventh at the national meet, and league runner-up Dickinson was 18th.
