Women’s Cross Country Goes Five for Five in Personal Records at Rowan Border Battle

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J.- What a day it was for the Haverford Women's Cross Country team, as the Fords went five for five in personal records, and finished 23rd out of 31 teams, on a gloomy, and rainy morning at DREAM Park.

Alice Sappenfield had a memorable day at her first Rowan Border Battle, as the first-year runner crossed the line at 23:37.5, earning 61st place overall. The blazing time is a new personal best for Sappenfield, beating her previous 6K time of 24:28.8.

Finishing second for the Fords was Julianna Watson, who completed the 6K trek with a time of  24:30.1, securing herself 118th place. The Brookline, Mass. native achieved a new personal best for the impressive time.

Audrey Carter also joined the personal-best party, placing 179th with a time of 26:05.6. The run at the Border Battle helped the sophomore runner accomplish a new personal best in 6k competitions.

Coming in fourth for the Scarlet and Black was Sophia Furman, who completed the race 26:45.1, obtaining 201st place. The Ambler, Pa. product earned a new personal best, defeating her previous 6k time of 27:08.4.

Rounding out the day for the Fords was Claire Parsons, who ended the event with a time of 27:39.5, placing 216th. The new time was a personal best for the first-year runner from Pittstown, N.J., topping her previous time of 28:27.2 which was picked up at the Paul Short Run earlier this  month. 

It's home sweet home for the Fords in their next race, as Haverford will host the Haverford Invitational at the Alumni Cross Country Course on Thursday, October 26. The meet will start at 4:15 p.m. and serve as a prelude to the Centennial Conference Championships at McDaniel on Saturday, October 28.
