Women’s cross country receives at-large bid to NCAA championship

INDIANAPOLIS – The Haverford College women's cross country team learned Sunday afternoon that it received an at-large bid to the NCAA championship to be held this Saturday, Nov. 20. The Fords were one of 16 teams given an at-large bid to the 32-team field.

Haverford finished fourth at the NCAA Mideast Regional this past Saturday and will be one of five teams from the region heading to the championship. Centennial Conference opponents Johns Hopkins University and Dickinson College were automatic qualifiers for finishing first and second, respectively. Elizabethtown College (third at regional) and Grove City College (fifth at regional) also received at-large bids.

This marks the seventh time in the last nine years that Haverford will make an appearance at the NCAA championship. Last season the Fords finished 30th at the championship meet after receiving an at-large bid.

Saturday's race is hosted by Wartburg (Iowa) College at the Max Championship Cross Country Course in Waverly, Iowa and gets underway at noon.
