Women take third at Long and Short Invitational

NEWVILLE, Pa. – Haverford College's women's cross country team placed third in the Dickinson (College) Long and Short Invitational on Saturday. Emily Lipman led the Fords in the Long run and Charlotte Lellman paced Haverford in the Short race.

The Long and Short meet consists of two races, 6-kilometer and 4-kilometer distances, with the top three scorers from each race combining for a team total.

Haverford posted a cumulative total of 71 team points after finishing second in the long race with 27 points and fourth in the short, with 44 points.

Lipman covered the 4-mile course in a time of 23 minutes, 25 seconds for the fifth-fastest time. Teammates Emily Scott (sixth, 23:44) and Andrea Tocci (17th, 24:17) were the other point scorers in the long event.

Lellman finished 10th overall in the short run with a time of 16:02. Kathryn Balmer was 11th (16:09) and Lilly Einstein was 23rd (16:33) to complete Haverford's scoring places.

Dickinson captured the combined title after finishing first in the short run and fourth in the long. Johns Hopkins was second overall after taking the long run title and finishing third in the short race.
