Lipman leads women’s cross country to a seventh place finish at the Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Emily Lipman led the 21st-ranked Haverford College women's cross country team to a seventh place finish in the Brown Division of the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University Friday afternoon.

Haverford had 315 points to record its best finish at the Invitational since coming in sixth in 2008. This year the Fords outran local Division I programs Monmouth University (11th place, 365 points), Rider University (16th, 449), Lafayette College (24th, 642) and Temple University (32nd, 803). Also finishing behind the Fords were nationally-ranked Division II programs Lock Haven University (eighth, 318) and Mansfield University (13th, 370) and top-30 Division III schools Nebraska Wesleyan University (10th, 361) and Elizabethtown College (18th, 523).

Lipman completed the six-kilometer course in a time of 22 minutes, 33 seconds and came in 18th. Emily Scott recorded a 46th place finish after posting a 21:13 and closely behind her was Andrea Tocci in 51st position with a time of 23:17. Sheera Rosenbaum crossed the finish line in 23:50 for a 89th place finish. Flora Berklein took the Fords' final scoring position with a 111th place time of 24:03. Also competing in the event were Sharon Warner (140th place, 24:13) and Sally Weathers (159th, 24:25).

In the 6K Open held in the morning, Charlotte Lellman paced the Fords with a 77th place finish after running the course in 24:05. Also competing in the Open were Erin Seglem (95th, 24:24), Evangeline Krajewski (113th, 24:42), Kathryn Balmer (124th, 24:49), Rachel Potter (132nd, 24:54), Jamie Croucher (133rd, 24:54) and Olivia Uddin (136th, 24:55).

Haverford's next meet will be the Princeton Invitational at Princeton University Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m.
