Haverford comes in fifth in the Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Haverford College women's cross country team recorded a fifth-place finish in the championship race at the Princeton Invitational Saturday morning. The Fords finished ahead of Division I programs Columbia, Miami and University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Emily Lipman was fastest Ford after running the course in 22 minutes, 53 seconds to come in 12th out of 97 runners.

The other six Haverford runners competiting in the championship race were separated by 27 seconds. Emily Scott (34th, 24:01), Andrea Tocci (35th, 24:02), Flora Berklein (41st, 24:15) and Sharon Warner (42nd, 24:19) all scored for the Fords. Sally Weathers (44th, 24:25) and Sheera Rosenbaum (45th, 24:28) rounded out the Haverford line-up.

The Fords totaled 156 points to tie host Princeton for fifth place. Yale won the Invitational with a score of 15. St. Joseph's took second place by recording 71 points. Monmouth grabbed third (120), while Keene State was fourth (153).

In the open event, Haverford took home third place with 69 points. St. Joseph's won the open with 31 points. Yale was second with 37 points.

Alice Vienneau paced the Fords after crossing the finish line in 24:12. She was fifth out of the event's 57 runners.

Sara Hess (10th, 24:38), Kaitlyn Shank (15th, 25:06), Lily Einstein (20th, 25:38) and Jamie Croucher (21st, 25:40) all finished in scoring positions for Haverford.

Haverford hosts the Haverford Invitational Friday, Oct. 21 at 4:30 p.m.
