Women's cross country team earns all-academic status

NEW ORLEANS - The Haverford College women's cross country team earned 2011 Division III All-Academic Cross Country status as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday.

This represents the fifth consecutive year the Fords have earned the national academic team honor. Squad members Emily Lipman and Alice Vienneau earned individual all-academic honors last week.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 through the 2011 fall semester. Haverford, one of nine Centennial Conference teams and 187 D-III teams to receive the honor, tallied a cumulative 3.48 GPA.

For the season, the Fords raced to a second-place conference finish and a fourth-place regional performance on the way to finishing 28th at the national championship race.
