Lellman Captures Individual Crown at Haverford Open

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Senior Charlotte Lellman won her first collegiate race Friday afternoon as the women's cross country team hosted the Haverford Open to begin its season. The race was the first athletic event of the 2014-15 season for Haverford College. Lellman crossed the line in a time of 18:58, a full 24 seconds ahead of her closest competitor.

Competing against Widener on the modified course, the Fords sent eight runners to compete in the season's first meet. In addition to Lellman's win, Haverford swept the top six spots in the individual standings.

Following Lellman across the line was freshman Nicole Giannetti as she finished second overall with a time of 19:22 in her first collegiate race. Sophomore Maggie Heffernan was third overall with a time of 19:26. Three freshmen, Amelia Keyser-Gibson (19:40), MaryKate Cavanaugh (19:41), and Sarah Wade (20:00) rounded out the Fords' top six runners. Alison Love (20:53) and Liana Alves (21:47) also made their Haverford debuts, finishing 12th and 16th, respectively.

Women's cross country returns to competition next weekend when it hosts the Alumnae Race on September 6.
