Women's Cross Country Holds at No. 13 in National Rankings

USTFCCCA Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team held its position at No. 13 in United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings during the first weekly release. This ranking is the very same slot the Fords occupied during the preseason poll after finishing 17th at the NCAA Championship last fall.

The Fords have run twice this season to date. They opened the season by claiming the top six slots in the Haverford Open. Charlotte Lellman led the team to the finish line in that race. At the Alumnae Meet, the Fords took the first three spots with Nora Weathers claiming the top individual.

Haverford is coming off of back-to-back top 20 finishes in the national championships with a 13th-place finish in 2012. The Fords have been represented as a team at the NCAA Championship 14 times in program history, including each of the past five years. The Fords have registered six top 15 finishes in program history. The best ever finish in team history came during the 1993 season when Haverford placed 10th overall in the team standings.

Four teams from the Centennial Conference are found in the poll which ranks the top 35. Johns Hopkins is No. 1 in the first weekly release. Dickinson is ranked 10th, while Swarthmore is ranked 32nd. Haverford is currently ranked third in the Mideast Region behind Johns Hopkins and Dickinson.

Women's cross country will travel to the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational this Saturday. That race will get underway at 10:30 a.m. and be run on the same course that the Mideast Regional will be held on in the middle of November.
