Women's Cross Country Checks In at No. 13 in National Poll

USTFCCA Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – A week away from competition for the majority of the Haverford College women's cross country team saw the Fords fall two spots to No. 13 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll. The Fords were up to No. 11 in the national rankings during last week's poll, but move down to their preseason and first week ranking in the third weekly release.

Haverford is currently receiving 184 points in the latest poll, just one point behind No. 12 Williamette. The big mover on the week was Tufts as it vaulted from No. 14 up to No. 8 in the weekly rankings. Centennial Conference foe Johns Hopkins continues to lead the national poll with all eight first-place votes.

Around the Centennial Conference, Dickinson held its position at No. 9 in the national rankings, while Swarthmore dropped out of the top 35 teams in the latest ranking period.

The Fords ran just two individuals at the Main Line Invitational this past week. That meet was highlighted by a 33rd-place finish from Nicole Giannetti as she finished in a time of 18:36.7. That time shaved nearly a minute off of her personal best from earlier in the season.

Women's cross country will return to competition this weekend as it travels to the Paul Short Invitational. That meet will be hosted by Lehigh University and is scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m.
