Women's Cross Country Vaults Into National Rankings

USTFCCCA Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – With the biggest jump in the rankings of any team in the country, the Haverford College women's cross country team emerged as No. 25 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings. The ranking marks the first time the Fords have cracked the national poll during the 2015 season.

Haverford is coming off of an impressive performance at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational. Running only in the long race, the Fords placed their top five runners among the top 14 finishers in the field of 164 finishers. That race was highlighted by a pair of top five showings from Nora Weathers and Katie Sullivan. Amelia Keyser-Gibson, Nicole Giannetti and Maggie Heffernan rounded out the Fords' top five runners.

The Fords are currently the fourth ranked team in the Mideast Regional, also a season high. Johns Hopkins retained the top spot in the regional and national poll. Dickinson and Elizabeth town were ranked 15th and 18th, respectively, in the national poll as the other two teams ahead of Haverford in the regional rankings. Misericordia is also ranked in the national poll from the Mideast region with its position at No. 34.

Women's cross country will return to action this weekend at Lehigh University for the Paul Short Run. The women's race in Bethlehem, Pa. will begin at 1:30 p.m.
