HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team checked in at No. 17 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Poll. The Fords received 157 voting points and switched places with Emory in the second release of the regular season.

Haverford competed in the Main Line Invitational this past Friday and had the top two finishers in the Division III race to show for their efforts in Katie Sullivan and Nicole Giannetti. MaryKate Cavanaugh, Amelia Keyser-Gibson, and Abigail Doroshow rounded out the team's top five finishers in the event where team scores were not calculated.

Four teams from the Mideast Region are currently ranked in the top 35 with three of those schools coming from the Centennial Conference. Johns Hopkins leads the regional rankings with the No. 3 rating nationally. Behind the Fords are No. 22 Elizabethtown and No. 30 Dickinson. Just on the outside looking in is a Swarthmore team that is currently receiving votes at the national level.

The Fords will have the upcoming weekend away from competition. The team will head out on the road for the first time in 2016 when it travels to Lehigh for the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday, October 1. The women's race will get underway at 10 a.m. that day.
