Women's Cross Country Holds at No. 17 in USTFCCCA Poll

USTFCCCA Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team held steady at No. 17 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Poll this week. The Fords garnered 146 voting points and kept their spot in the national poll despite coming in as the No. 3 team in the Mideast region.

Haverford had this past week away from competition but will return to action this Saturday at the highly competitive Paul Short Invitational. The Fords should get a good test of their postseason competition as both Johns Hopkins and Swarthmore are expected to enter the field. The women's race will get underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Bethlehem, Pa.

The Fords were edged out by Dickinson for the second slot in this week's regional poll as the Red Devils jumped two spots in the Mideast and 20 spots in the national poll. Johns Hopkins, ranked third in the country, still leads the regional poll. The Mideast region currently has five teams in the top 32 of the team rankings and is one of just three regions to hold that distinction.

Saturday's race will begin a busy month of October for the Fords as they are currently scheduled to have individuals entered in a race during each weekend of the month. The month will be capped by the Centennial Conference Championship to be contested on the Alumni Cross Country Course on Saturday, October 29.
