Women's Cross Country Moves Back into National Poll

USTFCCCA Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – With just 10 days until the Mideast Regional Championship, the Haverford College women's cross country team has jumped back into the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll. The Fords are ranked 35th this week after receiving votes in the previous poll.

The Fords are coming off of a third place finish at the Centennial Conference Championship in which Katie Sullivan (first team) and Nicole Giannetti both earned All-Centennial Conference accolades. Sullivan placed sixth in the field while Giannetti was the 13th runner across the line. Giannetti was also named the conference's scholar-athlete of the year. Haverford scored 83 points to Dickinson's 75 points to be edged out for the runner-up team finish.

Johns Hopkins, the 2016 Centennial Conference Champion, kept its position as the top-ranked team in the country. Dickinson climbed to the No. 9 in the national poll after finishing as the conference runner-up. DeSales (No. 25 nationally) and Elizabethtown (No. 29) will also provide competition for the Fords when they gear up for the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship during the Mideast Regional.

The 2016 NCAA Mideast Regional will be hosted by DeSales on Saturday, November 12 with the women's race getting underway at 11 a.m. The top two teams and top seven individual finishers not on those two teams will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship in Louisville, Ky.
